Edward was born in 1959 into a family of four in Hardeeville, South Carolina. He can be best described as a warm, caring, generous, kind, and considerate man of God. A humble individual who loves the Lord, Edward takes great pride in being the father of two beautiful adult children, Corey (38) and Michelle (36). He is also the proud grandfather to a beautiful granddaughter, Emoree (4 months old).
Edward served six years in the U.S. Army as a Medical Specialist and received the Expert Field Medical Badge, the highest peacetime honor awarded to a medic. He is the Executive Director for the Partnership for Children of Lenoir and Greene Counties in Greenville, North Carolina.
Over the past 34 years, Edward has dedicated his life to advocating for children, youth, and families.
A former Annie E. Casey Foundation Fellow, Edward holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Talladega College (1983) and a Master’s in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University (1987).
He is also a devoted and impactful teacher of God’s Word and a certified instructor in Christian Education in the following courses, including Baptist Doctrine, Effective Bible Reading, The Art of Working with Black Youth, The Black Church and Social Justice, Introduction to the New Testament, Doctrine of the Holy Spirit, and Blacks in the Bible.
Edward is the author of several books, including "40 Daily Thoughts for the Christian Soldier" (Volumes 1 & 2), "23 Daily Thoughts for the Young Christian Soldier," "From the Diary of a Black Man’s Mind: From Demagogue to Disciple," "Manna All Day," and his first children’s book titled "They Call Me Mr."
In his spare time, Edward enjoys watching sports and movies, listening to music, traveling, and, of course, studying and teaching God’s Word. His motto is: “Do your best, and God will do the rest!”

In this course, Bro. Edward walks students through the Bible while identifying the people of African descent in Scripture in every book of the Bible.
The premise of the course is the concept that the Creator is a God of Righteousness. Students will investigate the historical and current role of the black church in political and social justice issues, and how to establish social justice ministries in their churches.
By the end of the course, students will learn the basic tenets of the Baptist denomination and how they should be incorporated in their daily lives.
By the end of this course, students will learn the present, power and ministries of the Holy Spirit. We will investigate how the Spirit works in the lives of individual Christians and the Body of Christ.
In this dynamic course, students will be empowered by understanding how to properly interpret biblical text in its original context, and how to apply the rules of hermeneutics to arrive at the correct interpretation of Scripture how to apply it to our current circumstances.
By the end of the course, students will discuss the impact that modern culture has had on the church and vice versa.
